Kyle Bednar, son of Mark and Patty Bednar, Pierz, has been selected as Student of the Month for January, a recognition program sponsored by the Youth Activities Committee of Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615. He is a senior at Pierz-Healy High School and was an all conference academic in football, wrestling and baseball. He was captain of the wrestling team and September Student of the Month. He is vice president of the National Honor Society.

Andrew Bramer, Verndale, and Justin Huether, Baxter, were student leaders at the inaugural Bemidji State University Building Bonds and Breaking Barriers Through Adventure Day April 4 at the Gillett Recreation Center at Bemidji State University.
Kara Rud, a graduate of Brainerd High School, is one of 25 winners of Minnesota Power's $2,000 Community Involvement Scholarships. In partnership with the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, scholarships are awarded to students who live in the Minnesota Power electric service area, have maintained good academic records and have been actively involved in volunteer projects in their communities.
Maxwell T. Kuehn, son of Martha and Carter Kuehn, Brainerd, and student in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern College, was named to the dean's list for the spring quarter.

Leah Albrecht, daughter of Chuck and Deb Albrecht, Merrifield, graduated magna cum laude from North Park University in Chicago and was named to the spring semester dean's list. She received a major in psychology.
Ben Baratto, Crosby, and Jacob Curtiss, Aitkin, were members this year of the Bemidji State University football team that earned the school's first trip to a post-season bowl game. Curtiss is a freshman majoring in graphic design and is a defensive lineman. Baratto is a senior majoring in graphic design and is a linebacker. Baratto was also named to the 2006 NSIC All-Conference honorable mention team.
