Fit at (almost) 50

When Chris Kelly saw her dad, Bill Kelly, lying in a hospital bed connected to what seemed like miles of tubing and wires right after he underwent triple heart bypass surgery the summer of 2011, she knew she needed to do something so she didn't end up there herself. We struggle to choose foods that not only satisfy hunger, but that don't cost too much and can be prepared and eaten quickly (since eating on the run is now a national pastime). And, oh yeah, most of us also try to make sure that a few morsels meet part of the growing list of government recommendations for health - from the National Cancer Institute's ''5 a Day'' campaign aimed at increasing our intake of fruits and vegetables or from the wholesome base of the USDA's food pyramid.
