DULUTH - Brainerd High School graduate Adian Kummet was inducted into the College of St. Scholastica Baseball Hall of Fame Saturday. Kummet, a 2009 CSS graduate, became the third Saint to play for a major league organization.
Sister Devota La Voie, OSB, died Sept. 19, 2013, at St. Scholastica Monastery. She was born in Cloquet, Minn., on July 27, 1910, to Theophile Joseph LaVoie and Mary J. (Parenteau) LaVoie. Sister was in the 85th year of her Benedictine Monastic Profession. Sister came to the Monastery in 1923 as an aspirant and completed her high school education at Villa Sancta Scholastica. She began her formal training as a Sister with her postulant year Oct. 7, 1926; she professed her triennial vows on July 11, 1928; and became a perpetually professed Sister on July 11, 1931.

LITTLE FALLS - Sister Ruth Ann Nistler, 81, died on July 20, 2013, at the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Wednesday, July 24, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday, July 23, from 4-8:30 p.m., with a Franciscan Prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on July 24.
