IRONTON - Carol Bernice Bartels, age 87, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, of extensive burns at her home. She was born on Dec. 18, 1916, in Morgan, Minn., to Charles and Edna (Ellies) Pickar. She was united in marriage Elmer E. Bartels on Nov. 19, 1936, in Glencoe, Minn. She graduated from Wabasso High School and attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing, St. Paul. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Crosby. She was active with the DFL party of Minnesota. She was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton, Ironton Commercial Club, VFW Auxiliary, Brainerd, former mayor of Ironton, and a member of the Ironton Housing Authority.
