In response to the article about detox. I'm a nurse who has worked at detox for the past 3 1/2 years. We serve many people here. I think it would be well to remember that the people we serve are fathers, brothers, sons, mothers, sisters and daughters. Some have taken narcotics due to injuries and have become addicted. They are people who are in pain emotionally as well as physically and have turned to alcohol and drugs for solace. I don't know what has caused some to start down the slippery slope of addiction but they need our help and not our censure. One thing I am sure of is that they are all people and not garbage. Many of them already feel abandoned and worthless. Their families are in pain trying to figure out how to help their loved ones.
