ST. PAUL - Two area writers, whose literary themes are as indigenous to these parts as Ojibwes and tall pines, are in the running for the Minnesota Book Awards.

Two area writers in the running for a Minnesota Book Award came home empty handed last week, but a former Brainerd resident was recognized for a lifetime of literary achievements.

The Minnesota Center for the Book is accepting submissions for the Minnesota Book Awards, given annually to Minnesota authors, illustrators and editors.
