Crosslake boy going to Washington

Parker Moan is heading to Washington.The Crosslake second-grader, who was honored last fall as Crow Wing County Youth Volunteer of the Year, was recently named a recipient of the former President George H.W. Bush's Daily Point of Light award. Moan, 8, and his parents, Kris and Mike Smith and Doug Moan, all of Crosslake, plan to leave Sunday for Washington to attend the Points of Light Institute Tribute at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Monday.

Teen sex is not inevitable

The sex industry is a multi-billion dollar operation, if one includes pornography, much of cable TV (is that redundant?), pregnancy prevention devices (mislabeled ``birth control'') and virtually all contemporary magazines. It should then come as no surprise that the sex industry has a vested interest in recruiting new ``customers.'' Just as the tobacco companies must hook kids on cigarettes to survive, so must the sex industry need to hook teens on sex.
