The year was 1943. America was in the middle of World War II. Husbands were separated from their wives and children, sons and daughters did not know if they would ever see their folks again as all of them served their country valiantly.
The META 5 Displaced Homemaker Program will conduct a free series of six progressive classes designed for personal growth on the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College.
"In some ways it is hard to believe we are so very close to coming home," Capt. Mike Pazdernik wrote in a recent e-mail from Iraq. "Many of the days and weeks here have been long and difficult. Still, the months seem to have passed quickly and, looking back, everything seems to meld together."
NISSWA - Neal & Leandra will perform in the final Grassroots Concert of the fall season at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Nisswa Community Center.
AITKIN - The four choirs of Aitkin Middle School will present their annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4.
