WASHINGTON (AP) - From the first major clergy sex abuse scandal nearly 18 years ago, attorney Mark Chopko has publicly defended and privately advised America's Roman Catholic bishops.

COLLEGEVILLE (AP) - St. John's Abbey pledged to seek out and offer help to any future victims of sexual abuse by its priests and monks under a legal settlement that resolves about a dozen claims, some of them decades old.
