NOVEMBER 15 - 60 years ago (1949) - Slayer of the biggest deer to date in the local deer and bear contest is Frank Gilmer of Brainerd with a 248-pound buck, just beating out the 241-pounder shot by Bennie Thrun of Fort Ripley. Contest director Earl Mondor says 368 deer are registered thus far.
60 years ago (1944) - The A.A. Arnold grocery truck, driven by Charles Cossette, was damaged today by a hit-and-run driver traveling west on Front Street.
80 years ago (1927) - We have a good town in which good people live. We believe in our town and its citizens our countryside is flourishing. Our schools and churches are factors in our development.
